The first step is identification of the bacterial pathogen which causes an infection. Second, sensitivity of the pathological agent towards the commercially available phages must be determined. If commercially available bacteriophages are not effective in the particular case, upon the request of the patient and his/her medical doctor, a custom phage is prepared by the pharmacy. Phages are made both in the unguentum and suppository forms.
